Fun trip to ER

Our little buddy has been sick for about the past three weeks.  First a cold, got antibiotics, then the cough came.  I have been debating for a few days on whether or not to take him back to the doc.  I had called and the nurse said only bring him if he has trouble breathing.  Finally this past Thursday, I decided to just take him b/c he was really fussy, not eating good and just not himself.

We get there and he is wheezing.  The doctor does a chest x-ray and then we get a breathing treatment.  Poor little buddy was not happy.  He screamed through the x-ray and the breathing treatment looked a little something like this...

Yeah...he wasn't happy.  I got to hold him down with one arm and hold the mask on with the other.  Since it takes about 15 min for these breathing treatments...I broke down and gave him his paci, started singing to him and bouncing my knee...he eventually looked like this...COLD OUT.

The doc came back to report chest x-ray was clear.  She checked his oxygen level and it was really low 90s.  We kept an eye on it, dropped to 89.  She then starts the conversation that ER is probably in our future.  As I told her, if that's even in the conversation we are going.  Then he drops down to 85...we had to put little buddy on oxygen to get his levels up.  He finally got up to where it needed to be with some effort, but kept fluctuating.

Then she says I can decide ambulance or drive him myself. Again, my response...if we are even having a conversation about ambulance and he is border line...call them.  I wasn't driving 30 min to a hospital with my baby turning blue in the back seat...and I also knew they would get us strait back if we went by transport.

I went into hyper mode then...called Justin, told him to get to hospital, ran to my car (while the doctor is holding my baby inside with oxygen on his face), yanked the car seat out of the car, grabbed my purse, phone charger and ran back inside to wait for our ride.

Briggs was such a big boy.  As you can see here...he is wondering what in the world is going on.

They get him all strapped in, and then ask me if I'm riding or driving behind them...um, is that a serious question?!?!?!?!  My answer...where do I sit?

This was my view.  They even have a tv on this thing.  No Mickey Mouse, but they had Elmo.  Briggs can't see me, but he can hear me.  I was talking to him and he was such a big boy.  Not the first tear.  He let them take his blood pressure, monitor his oxygen level and they even had to give him a little oxygen while on the ride...he was so good.  I was proud.

The whole time I'm sitting in my seat, texting like a fool, trying to get all my people in the loop.  And Justin of course is flippin out so I'm trying to keep him up to date with everything.

Here we are coming in to the ER.  Little buddy is just like...
what is everybody getting all worked up about?  As long as I have my paci...

He gets checked out (the little thing on his toe is measuring his oxygen level).

Me and little buddy.  He was eating his goldfish and being silly.
I think the breathing treatment he got made him a little hyper.

Aunt Celeste works really close to the hospital, so she came over as soon as she could with a happy meal from McDonalds.  It was good to have her there and Briggs had fun coloring with her.

No more pics to narrate the night.  Long story short, they did another chest x-ray at the hospital, which was clear again.  They feel like the drop in his oxygen level was from the breathing treatment clearing out some of the mucous in his chest and his little body having to readjust.  He never had a drop in oxygen the entire time at the hospital.  They feel like it's viral and nothing more they could do for us since he was doing so good the whole time we were there.

I actually pushed for us to stay the night b/c I didn't want to come home with a baby who was going to turn blue and no oxygen to give him. They wouldn't since he was doing so good while we were there.

Needless to say, mommy hasn't slept good since Thursday b/c I am constantly checking his breathing and making sure he is ok. We go back to the doctor Monday for a recheck and see what else, if there is anything else we can do for him.

I will say, today he has seemed a little happier and increased appetite.  Hoping we are getting over this nasty little bug and on our way to recovery.
