Today is my "bloggiversary". It's been one whole year since I started this and OH how my days have changed. I initially started my blog in order to update folks on our medical status while I was pregnant with Briggs. If you need a refresher...click here.
That was such a weird and uncertain time with being on bedrest...thankfully, everything turned out great and we got us a healthy baby boy out of it all. A year ago, my day looked like this. I thought it would only be fitting on the year anniversary of my blog, to give a little snapshot of what our day looks like now :)
So here it goes...
We start out with breakfast.
That usually consists of something like a cinnamon raisin English muffin, fruit and milk.
Then Briggs likes to play with his letters on the frig.
I'm usually busy unloading the dishwasher, washing bottles and cleaning up the kitchen.
Then it's playtime while mommy watches the news and talks to Aunt Abs (while she drives to work). Briggs loves to push anything that moves, play at the table by mommy, stack blocks...
We always have to play chase a few times during the day.
That's Briggs' favorite game right now.
If he looks blury...that's because he is...the kid can move FAST!
He thinks that's so fun and then he comes back to get me...
We do this for at least 30 minutes...it's one of my favorite things during the day too
Time for a walk...we try to head out early before it gets too hot.
On most days we usually have at least one friend from the neighborhood walking with us.
It's pretty funny when there is a group of us, it looks like a stroller gang.
It's pretty funny when there is a group of us, it looks like a stroller gang.
We do a minimum of 2 miles each time we walk
(we take multiple walks per day)
And...this usually happens before we are done.
While Briggs is napping, first thing I do is have my quiet time.
Right now I'm studying Hebrews. If anybody needs some good material, I really like this book. I've done a few books of the Bible this way.
Since Briggs naps for a couple of hours, I do my chore for the day, clean up, laundry, work out, work on the computer, pay bills, work in the garden, take a shower...until he wakes up.
It's lunch time when little man wakes up.
He is a REALLY GOOD EATER...the kid can eat more than I do...not a joke!
We do a few more things once he is awake like laundry...
He thinks he is 'helping' me.
Outside is definitely Briggs' favorite place to be, so we have lots of things we do out there, like the baby pool (while I work in the garden)..
We don't do this every day but I'm sure it will be a more frequent thing as the summer gets hotter.
Pretty much every afternoon we go visiting. We have lots of ladies who live on our street and are retired. Everybody LOVES to see Briggs coming. He usually gets passed around between all of them and he is always showing off his new tricks and throwing that smile around
(he is checking everybody out in this picture)
There is an afternoon snack and nap in there somewhere, but I didn't think a picture was necessary.
Once up from his afternoon nap, we usually play inside a little more and get dinner started. When it's time for daddy to come home, we hit the streets again for a wagon ride.
Briggs is usually waving at all the cars driving by and all the neighbors outside..
And then...we wait anxiously for daddy. Briggs knows when we go out in the wagon, daddy will be home soon. He keeps looking at the end of our street waiting, waiting, waiting...
And then we hear the rumble of daddy's truck. All the old people LOVE to watch this go down...they all watch out their windows or watch from their driveway, it's pretty funny..like it's the highlight of everybody's day (including mommy).
As Justin comes down the street, Briggs gets SO EXCITED...he starts smiling as soon as he sees the red truck, waving his arm all big boyish, squealing out loud...it's the cutest thing I have ever seen.
Then daddy pulls on the side of the street to pick up his co-pilot. Briggs helps him drive (only a couple houses down) and they back the truck up the driveway...I mean look at this picture and how much this little boy loves his daddy...heart melting now!
And the rest of the day is just eating supper, playing with daddy, bath time, we usually take a walk as a family (another 2 miles) and then bedtime.
As you can see, life is very different these days from a year ago, but I LOVE my life...then and now. Briggs has brought so much joy and I'm so thankful to be at home with him.
I think that last picture captured perfectly how much Briggs adores Justin. It's so sweet to see my husband and little boy together. I'm so thankful for how Justin loves us and provides for our family.
Even though being at home with Briggs is a very challenging and hard job, it's the best job I've ever had and so rewarding. My heart is so full and we have so much to be thankful for. I cherish the time I have with our little boy, as he is growing up right before our eyes.
So that's a snapshot of our days at home and what fun days they are...
